My YouTube channel has experienced a sudden spurt in subscriber numbers in the last week or so. I was not sure why this has happened but I think I discovered the reason this morning.
I made a short video about “dirty old Dublin-I have always loved you” and it has been tremendously successful in terms of views and comments. But I also discovered that it has brought in 349 new subscribers over the last 28 days.
This is massive compared to what you would usually expect. And you would never expect one video to have this type of impact.
Clearly it is the type of success that is random and virtually unrepeatable. So I need to continue to grow my channel the old way, the slow and steady way and continue to make the best videos I can.
But I will also have to look at the increased, strategic use of Youtube short videos to grow my channel.
