Why I Am Ignoring the Findings of My Own Poll Results

I am ignoring the findings of my own poll, carried out on my YouTube channel, and am catering for the minority view, not the majority.

The easiest thing to do is to follow the majority, do the popular thing, take the path of least resistance, and cater for the masses.

I polled my YouTube subscribers and asked them did they want me to do another general “ask me anything” live stream, or niche down to a specific area. The majority wanted me to do another “ask me anything” live stream, as opposed to one dedicated to a particular area of law-for example small business or property or employment or personal injuries.

But I am doing my next live stream on YouTube on Saturday on one area only: all aspects of business, entrepreneurship, small business law, digital marketing, video marketing, brand building, and so on.

Not property, not personal injuries, not employment law, not wills and probate, not immigration. Just business.

I firmly believe that as a small business owner with a small solicitor’s practice trying to cater for the many, for everyone, is a self-defeating strategy that is bound to fail.

If you have a small business, you need to consider this approach. It is easy, nowadays, to find your crowd, the subsection of “everyone” who will be fascinated and delighted with what you do, and what you offer.

Don’t waste your time trying to make something for everyone, it will fail.
