How to tell an engaging story

I’m a firm believer in the power of stories.

Stories are vitally important tools which allow you to build a brand, spread an idea, persuade, influence, build a tribe, sell, grow a business. And much more.

But telling stories is not as easy as it might at first appear. For a story to engage a listener or viewer or reader it must hook and engage.

One way not to tell stories is to use “and then” this happened. This is a linear narrative of what happened but is not a story.

To tell a good story you can use the following words: “but”, “because”, “therefore”.

Using these words allow you to tell an engaging story, one that will fully exploit the value and power of story.
