I came across a YouTube channel yesterday which got me thinking.
Firstly, the channel has 480,000 subscribers yet is less than one year old.
Secondly, the maker of the channel never shows her face in her videos.
Thirdly, there is no speaking, no voiceover or piece to camera. What there is instead is text on the screen and nice background music. But no spoken words.
Fourthly, the maker of the videos is a stay at home mom who invites us along with her as she cleans her apartment or prepares food or eats her breakfast. But all of her activities are mundane, everyday things.
And she makes no bones about it as the introduction to her channel states that “I record fragments of my mundane life so that I can cherish them forever”.
I am still trying to figure this out, to be frank.
People love this stuff, however, and make their love clear in the comments.
