The freedom of ignoring online comments

I published a video yesterday about the recent Supreme Court decision from the United Kingdom in which the Court defined ‘woman’ for the purposes of equality legislation in the UK.

Whether this decision has far reaching consequences in the UK, or Ireland, in the medium to long term seems to be uncertain.

But many of the comments on my YouTube channel were gleeful and having a pop at me suggesting I must be devastated (for some reason).

The easiest thing to do would be to respond and reply. But I don’t.

And the commenter has an agenda which he/she holds dear and which is beyond persuasion from me or anyone else.

There is too much subtlety needed in interpreting a decision like this for responding to comments on YouTube, or anywhere else.

The bottom line is there is great freedom in ignoring the comments and letting people make up their own mind in the best way they can.

And today I will just publish another video, that might inform or persuade.
