There is a real benefit, albeit a painful experience, in seeing the comments on my videos when I publish them on YouTube and Facebook.
No matter what the issue is there are always a great deal of diametrically opposed viewpoints. Some of them would, quite frankly, make you sick and angry.
Some, however, would make you think and see some small modicum of merit in the opposing viewpoint. This has to be a good thing and leads to a more rounded, less of an echo chamber, view of the world.
And, of course, some of the comments are truly sick. But that is one of the prices you pay in a democracy.
It is still a price worth paying.
