Philip Dwyer convicted of trespass at IPAS centre in County Clare

Philip Dwyer, the self-styled ‘citizen journalist’ and anti-immigration activist, collected his second conviction within a matter of weeks yesterday. He was convicted a few weeks ago in Dublin of a public order offence arising from his activities at the Coolock former paint factor premises.

He was convicted of trespass at Ennis District Court and fined €500. The offence occurred at Magowna House at Inch, Co Clare, in May 2023.

Dwyer has indicated he will appeal the conviction.

The notable thing about this case was that the evidence that Dwyer opened to the court-video footage from his mobile phone-helped convict him, according to the District Court judge.
