I get a great kick out of the clients I generate through my bread making hobby, which I share online in my YouTube videos, on Facebook, Instagram and elsewhere.
When you think about marketing a professional services business such as mine you would not immediately think about sharing bread making videos. Or any videos or content which is of such a personal nature and does not touch upon the topic of law.
Many would take the view that such activity, such a personal insight into me as an individual, would take from my brand and my desire to appear professional as a solicitor and small business consultant/advisor.
Those people do not understand the power of connection, and fascination in marketing.
People do business with people, other humans.
You would not believe the number of people who come to my office for a consultation and who say, as they are leaving, “by the way, I love your bread videos” or “I love the vlogs, how is the drone going?”
Marketing is connection in a world of grey and sameness.
