Digital landlords and tenants (sharecroppers)

Elon Musk has proved once again, if any proof were needed, the disastrous strategy of relying on other’s platforms to build your brand or business.

Whether it is Elon Musk at Twitter or Mark Zuckerberg at Facebook or anyplace else for that matter you are entirely at their mercy and their whim if you decide to rely on such platforms to promote your business.

Top marketers avoid this mistake. They create their own assets, assets they can control.

Assets like blogs, email lists, podcasts, and videos.

Then, no matter what these digital landlords decide to do by way of new rules, regulations, charges, fees or other barriers to entry, smart marketers can communicate with their tribe through their own channels.

I am off now to send a message to my over 10,000 email subscribers.
