Mainstream media (MSM) has come in for a lot of criticism over the last few years.
Is it justified?
Why?
We must first consider the alternative(s) and ask a series of questions:
- Who said it? Who made the claim/assertion?
- Can they be trusted?
- How did they perform in the past?
- Were they wrong? Did they spread misinformation?
- Disinformation?
- Did they spread lies?
- Have they a source or basis for what they say?
- Can they cite an authority?
- Are they relying on evidence and/or data to support their story?
- Were lies proved in the past?
- If they are wrong this time is there a complaints procedure?
- If they are wrong this time is there a legal cause of action open to me?
- Who is the alternative?
When considering the alternative, run through questions 1 to 12 above.
