Mainstream media-13 questions

Mainstream media (MSM) has come in for a lot of criticism over the last few years.

Is it justified?

Why?

We must first consider the alternative(s) and ask a series of questions:

  1. Who said it? Who made the claim/assertion?
  2. Can they be trusted?
  3. How did they perform in the past?
  4. Were they wrong? Did they spread misinformation?
  5. Disinformation?
  6. Did they spread lies?
  7. Have they a source or basis for what they say?
  8. Can they cite an authority?
  9. Are they relying on evidence and/or data to support their story?
  10. Were lies proved in the past?
  11. If they are wrong this time is there a complaints procedure?
  12. If they are wrong this time is there a legal cause of action open to me?
  13. Who is the alternative?

When considering the alternative, run through questions 1 to 12 above.
