I was faced with a dilemma this week regarding my email marketing account.
I have this email marketing account with Aweber.
I have over 10,000 subscribers to various email lists (property, employment law) which I have worked hard to build up over the years. These lists have been tremendously profitable for me and were the sole focus of my early online marketing efforts.
Over the last few years, I have neglected them, to some extent. But they still do what they are supposed to do: deliver free reports to the inbox of a subscriber and a stream of useful, autopilot messages thereafter.
This week I got a reminded that my credit card was expiring and they wanted new card details. I was tempted to just delete the whole lot, close the account and save myself a couple of hundred euros every month.
But I was reluctant to do so as I had worked hard over the years to build up these lists. And to blow them up now does not make much sense, notwithstanding that I have not utilised the fully over the last couple of years.
On balance I think it would be plain dumb not to renew the card details and maintain the account.
And that’s what I will do.
