A worrying ignorance of employment law

Some of the comments underneath my video on YouTube, Facebook, and Tik Tok about the jailing of Enoch Burke for breach of a court order demonstrate a worrying lack of understanding about employment law in Ireland.

Judging from the views expressed I can see significant difficulties managing certain employees given their understanding of the law and their rights in the workplace.

There is a worrying reliance on the Burke argument in the High Court on Friday that he somehow is entitled to a job at Wilson’s Hospital School and his showing up there is simply an expression of this right.

An employee who has been dismissed from any workplace has no right to attend that workplace if the employer makes that clear. And going to the High Court for an injunction to prevent an employee’s attendance is a pretty obvious sign of the employer’s intent and wishes.

Anyway, you can learn more about employment law in Ireland with my book, available on Amazon.
