Many of the comments are insane-what’s the point?

I publish, and have published a lot of videos, over the last few years.

Many of them are informational or educational, some touch on controversial topics such as Enoch Burke’s dispute with Wilson’s Hospital School or the Kyle Hayes criminal trial in Limerick.

Many of the comments on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook are misconceived, wrong-headed, misguided, and insane.

I am not talking about comments that illustrate a different opinion or world view from mine. They are fine. There must be differences and a wide range of views.

I am taling about comments that are simply deluded and have no merit whatsoever.

At time like this I often think, “what’s the point?” What is the point in my making videos that try to change the culture or attempt to explain something when these people are coming from so far out of left field that the gap is simply cavernous.

I just hope there are some people out there who do not comment but think about the issues carefully and are open to a fair hearing of all sides of an argument or issue. And that from time to time a video of mine might actually make a difference.

I am hopeful that there is a significant number of people who approach the issue with an open mind. Maybe I am the deluded one.

I hope not.
