The Salaryman Tokyo YouTube channel fascinates me and has stimulated my thinking

I came across an interesting YouTube channel yesterday: Salaryman Tokyo https://www.youtube.com/@salarymantokyo

What was of particular interest was the fact that there was no speaking and you did not get to see the Salaryman behind the channel.

Most of the footage was from a POV perspective but anything that included footage of the creator was filmed so as not to identify him or his face/head was blurred out.

There was no voiceover or speaking, the only audio was the ambient sounds of wherever he was filming. He relies completely on sub-titles to communicate his message.

Sometimes he had a message, quite a well-argued one about Japanese society or its economy, and sometimes he had the most mundane titles for his videos-for example “Boring day off (Sunday)” or “Boring day off (Saturday)”.

I find something fascinating about this and cannot put my finger on it precisely. Maybe it is a combination of things, perhaps it is the fact that it is Japan. I don’t know.

But it has certainly stimulated my thinking (which is a good thing).

He has 276,00 subscribers from 145 videos which is tremendously successful by any standards.
