Showing up every day is hard, regardless of your field of endeavour. It may be writing or making music or making art or working in what society sees as an important or unimportant job.
Doing that thing, the work, day in day out, with consistency and reliability is difficult.
I signed up again-for the third time, I think-to Seth Godin’s email newsletter. He has been sending out at least one email/blog post to his subscribers every single day for decades.
This is what he does, and he is famous for it.
I’ve signed up again because I want a constant, daily reminder that showing up every day can be done.
No, it’s not easy. In fact, it is bloody hard.
Because there are days when you feel like it, and you do it with enthusiasm. But there are many more days when you don’t feel like it. You have other things to do, other more pressing matters.
You have distractions, pressures, a wandering mind occupied with problems. These are the days when you must show up.
Like today.
P.S. If you want to sign up for Seth’s blog you will definitely learn stuff. All sorts of random stuff. But you will learn. And you can unsubscribe anytime.
