Protecting entrepreneurs from themselves

I have recently given advice to two different would be entrepreneurs.

I have significant fears for both of them and the deals they were intending entering into.

One of them listened carefully to what I said, agreed with me, and went ahead anyway in a venture that is bound to disappoint. The decision to do was was a triumph of optimism and enthusiasm over hard business reality.

The other person nodded, too, but was intent on ploughing ahead, despite his failure to ask the one important question concerning the venture he was taking over.

His undertaking is almost certainly going to end in loss and failure. And I can say, hand on heart, that I did my best to discourage him, to persuade him against it.

I failed with both of these individuals, although I gave them the best advice possible. They just would not listen.
