It is easy to admire and laud the boxing ability and sporting achievements of Kellie Harrington.
Winning two gold medals at the Olympic games is a remarkable achievement and a tremendous beacon of hope for young girls up and down the country.
It is not easy, however, to accept Harrington’s views on immigrants to this country and her views on trans persons.
It is the case that a person can excel in one sphere of activity and hold views or do things with which you may not agree, or even disagree vehemently.
Our society has a fair share of individuals who excelled on the GAA pitch or other sporting arena and who have engaged in some reprehensible activity off the same pitch.
You do not have to cast your mind around for too long.
Nobody has everything.
