I am often approached by people who have a solicitor but are thinking about changing.
When I ask them why they say their solicitor is too soft, not tough enough. And they come across me online someplace-maybe in a video on YouTube or Facebook or Instagram-and want to change.
Because I appear tougher. Perhaps this is because I am older, maybe because I am male, maybe because I am bold.
Maybe they think I talk tough.
It is a misguided perception and mistaken decision, quite frankly.
Because a solicitor can be tough from a position of strength, and when the facts support a tough position. Not merely when the solicitor appears to be strong versus one who appears to be ‘soft’.
The facts and the law will determine how tough a solicitor can be in any situation. Not appearances or a deep voice.
