I have published a video this morning on my YouTube channel about international protection law in Ireland. This covers the area of seeking/claiming asylum in Ireland.
This is a topic that generates a lot of heat in Irish society nowadays with regular protests at various appointed centres around the country for asylum seekers.
If my video helps one or two people to change their mind about some aspects of asylum seeking in Ireland, I will be happy.
Perhaps that is too lofty an ambition.
But if someone listens to the application process through which an applicant for asylum must go then they must at a minimum accept that we do not have an “open borders” policy in Ireland.
And if the video generates some new clients for me, well and good too. I have no apology to make about the provision of legal services to those who are fleeing war or persecution of some kind.
