Elon Musk’s decision to treat Twitter’s employees like modern day slaves without a particle of respect or dignity was noteworthy yesterday.
Locking employees out of their workplaces and advising them to expect an email which will determine their future employment with the company was as crass and reprehensible an act by an employer for a long time.
I don’t know much about Musk but he appears to be living, breathing proof that you cannot attribute any moral or positive character traits to an individual merely by the amount of wealth they possess.
There is obviously no correlation between wealth and class, no connection between assets and character. If there is, it is purely coincidental.
And I fear for his intentions with Twitter given his description of himself as being an absolutist when it comes to free speech.
I will wait and see what happens but one thing is for certain: I will never spend a cent on advertising on Twitter. And it seems many big advertisers have made, and are making, similar decisions in the last few days.
