When I started writing a blog post on this blog a few years ago it was with a view to becoming a better writer from the act of repetition and practice.
Over time other benefits became apparent. For example, the act of writing something out and turning it over on a page with words helped me to effectively and efficiently think through some issues.
And a further benefit was the mental health benefits of having a place to do some thinking and noodling every day, an element of letting off steam.
Occasionally I think should I quit now on the basis that I could be doing something else, perhaps something more beneficial. I must consider, too, what I am getting out of it now, do the same benefits arise, and so on.
It makes sense to always have some type of review as to whether an activity that I engage in on a daily basis continues to be beneficial.
For now, however, I believe I get more out of it than it costs me in terms of time and effort. It also forces me to constantly monitor and observe what is going on around me, with a view to writing a blog post.
That can’t be a bad thing, can it?
