I am on the third book of the series of books by Cormac McCarthy known as “the Border Trilogy”.
The first book was “All the pretty horses”, the second was “the Crossing” and the final book in the trilogy is “Cities of the Plain”.
I had previsuly read a book of McCarthy’s, the name of which escapes me, which I did not like or enjoy.
But these three books have been thoroughly enjoyable with beautiful writing and realistic dialogue and scene painting.
One of the unusual features of the books is McCarthy does not put inverted commas around his dialogue. You might expect that this would make the reading difficult and a struggle to identity dialogue and who said what and when.
Not at all, you get completely used to it once you get into he books.
