Ukraine can’t win this war-what’s the end game?

The war goes on in Ukraine, a war that almost certainly cannot be won by Ukraine.

The west continues to supply weapons and aids and abets a proxy war. But the casualties continue to mount on both sides of this war.

Encouraging President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and various leaders visiting Kyev is great. It sends a good message and makes the rest of us feel good.

But what’s the end game?

Sooner or later, it will have to come to an end. And the resources that Russia has at its disposal by comparison with Ukraine’s means there will only be one winner.

I am not sure what the end game envisaged by the west might be, or how this conflict will be resolved or terminated.

But I do know that there is a shocking loss of lives and property in the meantime. Regrettably the greatest loss is being inflicted on Ukraine and its innocent people.

And I also know that the west continuing to supply weapons in which Ukraine is doing the fighting and making the human and material sacrifices needs to be reconsidered.

The question must be confronted: how does this end?

What is the point of continuing loss of life if the outcome is inevitable, as many believe? What is the point of the west supplying weapons to Ukraine? To annoy Putin? To wind him up?

Because it won’t stop him.
