The extremities of emotion in legal practice

I experienced the extremes of human emotion and circumstance last week in my solicitor’s office.

On the one hand I met the family of a young man who was the victim of a fatality in the workplace.

Later in the week I met a young woman, a neighbour whose grandfather was one of my first clients, who was signing the deed of transfer for her new house.

Being involved and making a living from the law and legal issues brings a massive range of potential issues.

Some occasions are joyous and proud and happy.

Some are utterly desolate where the words you have to share are utterly meaningless.

Last week was just another reminder of the extremes to which my profession and everyday activity can travel.
