I am often asked for a consultation with a would be entrepreneur.
It will be someone who has an idea for a new business, or intend starting a company, or developing something, or who intends taking over an existing business.
From the outset, however, their budget does not seem to be adequate.
For they want to negotiate the consultation fee or the drafting of a cheap, short document, or they want to cut corners in relation to the work involved in taking on the lease of a premises.
It is apparent to me that they are not ready. They simply don’t have the finance in place to give themselves the best chance of success.
I would be the first to admit that there is a certain amount of flying by the seat of your pants when starting any business.
But this pioneering spirit, the spirit of entrepreneurship, should not be confused or conflated with a complete inadequacy of capital to get started.
