Judge refused to allow evidence by video link, rape trial collapses

A trial collapsed last week because the accuser and alleged victim in the case had been admitted to a mental institution.

The state, prosecuting four men for alleged rape and sexual assault, applied for evidence to be given by video link. The judge refused this application.

Quite a few people have asked the question, ‘why?’, on my YouTube, Facebook and TikTok page.

And I do not know the answer, quite frankly. Perhaps there is a perfectly good reason as to why this request was denied.

But the young woman and her four accusers are now to retain anonymity for life and the young woman will almost certainly feel she has been deprived of justice.
