My wife persuaded me to go to a Hammam with her for a treatment.
A Hammam is a traditional Turkish bath and involves a sauna, lying on a hot stone, and getting some type of massage treatment.
It was some experience, one I am glad to have done, especially in a country like Turkey which is known for the tradition of Turkish baths for many centuries.
We were put lying on a hot stone first and let sweat for a few minutes. Then the two masseuses entered and massaged us vigorously , washed us with oils, and eventually gave us a Turkish tea and a towel when it was all over.
If you ever get the opportunity it is worth doing. Recommended.
Whether there are any real long term benefits or not, I simply do not know. But it was good while it lasted.
