Filtering the subject matter of my videos

For the first time ever, I am having to filter the type of video I make for my YouTube channel.

I always had a free rein to make whatever I wanted, comment on any topic of my choosing, and say what I wanted, within the boundaries of the law.

Now, I am becoming more circumspect and beginning to filter what I make and publish online.

Some of the comments on certain topics are so intense, ill-informed, and extreme that I am now obliged to ask myself two questions when considering the subject matter of a video:

  1. Is it worth it, given the amount of heat it is likely to generate from extreme individuals?
  2. Are these individuals likely to go further than simply leaving a comment on YouTube?

A couple of videos I have published recently have been eye openers and have prompted this thinking.

I must ask myself, “is it worth it?”

Let me make it clear that I am referring to a tiny minority of individuals, the vast majority of commenters are reasonable.

But the tiny minority can make things extremely uncomfortable for the rest, including me. All you have to do is look at the carry on in Coolock, for example.
