Conveyancing is poetry

I discovered early in my career that many solicitors either liked conveyancing or hated it.

In fact, there seemed to be a divide between litigators and conveyancers with different skills, mindsets, and personalities required for each area of activity.

I have always liked conveyancing.

Assessing and sussing out the provenance-the title-to a particular property intersest can be straightforward.

Or it can be extremely challenging and complex, especially with a Registry of Deeds title which involves a chain of transactions going back many decades.

Some lawyers like this puzzle, some don’t.

I like it.

I understand now what “code is poetry” means when I read it every time I log into the back of my WordPress based website.
