You would miss the All-Ireland club finals on Paddy’s Day

You would miss the All-Ireland club football and hurling finals on St. Patrick’s Day.

I am not sure why they decided to have these championships finishing in December or thereabouts, but they were always a staple of my St. Patrick’s Day down through the decades.

I miss them.

The flatbed trailers, tractors, lorries, Boy scouts, Girl guides in various towns and villages up and down the country are great.

But the pride of the parish on display in Croke Park on Paddy’s day was something quintessentially Irish, and fitting for a St. Patrick’s Day.

It is not too late to bring it back.
