I saw an African or Asian family on Inchydoney Beach yesterday, they were sitting close to where I was reading my book.
There was a little boy in the family, probably 9 or 10. He was going off to play on the beach with his friend, a little white boy.
His parents were giving him instructions not to go near the water, not to wander off etc.
The little white boy was just waiting and staring at his friend. He did not see the colour of the other boy.
He just wanted to play.
Hopefully, he will stay this way and never see the colour of the other person’s skin.
And he will never fall for the hate and bile about difference and indigenous Irish.
When the little black boy opened his mouth it was clear he was born and raised in Cork for he had the thickest Cork accent you could imagine.
