Do disclaimers and qualifications in structural surveys render them worthless?

I made a video recently about getting a structural survey done when you are buying a second-hand house.

We would always recommend but the purpose of the video was to explain that the survey is not a title document or a legal document per se. For this reason, any questions arising from it should be addressed to the surveyor/architect who prepared the report.

Some commenters commented, however, that there was no point getting a structural survey because the report is so heavily qualified with disclaimers.

I recognise that this can be a problem. But to suggest this as a reason not to get a report done is palpable nonsense.

Notwithstanding the disclaimers and qualifications, it is still a worthwhile exercise and can provide valuable information about the biggest investment the buyer is likely to make in their entire life.
