Are you a small business owner?
Have you an ambition to start your own business?
Or are you an artist who wants to share your art with the world?
I recommend you listen to a podcast called Akimbo, by Seth Godin. It’s completely free and the ideas he shares for small business owners or anyone who wants to share their work with the world are worth serious consideration.
I don’t listen every week. But when I am stuck for something to listen to, I always go back and dive right back in.
The episode I listened to this morning was about the importance of status roles and the use of shame to influence how we behave, what we buy, consume, etc.
He answers questions at the end of each episode and these questions are good opportunities for him to provide answers about central principles of Godin’s such as minimum viable audience, not trying to please everybody, and shipping your work so that you can engage with your audience.
He’s an intelligent, thoughtful individual and a tremendously smart marketer. If you want to market your business or art or work without selling your soul, and with integrity, Akimbo is worth a listen.
