I read this morning of a hurling match between Wexford and Tipperary being abandoned yesterday as a result of racist abuse aimed at Wexford player and captain, Lee Chin.
The match, a charity match, was in Tipperaray, in Carrick on Suir, and an investigation is to be carried out with both county boards ad idem as to the need to stamp out any such abuse that creeps into the game.
This type of knuckle dragging behaviour should find no place in Irish society.
Not on the GAA pitches, nor the soccer pitches, nor the rugby pitches.
Not in our society. I am glad the two county boards have acted quickly to condemn the abuse.
