Enoch Burke’s defamation action

I read yesterday in the Irish Times that Enoch Burke’s defamation action against Mediahuis Ireland is to be heard next week in the High Court.

The defamation proceedings are over an article published in the Sunday Independent in 2022, when Burke was imprisoned in Mountjoy for the first time.

I wonder if Burke is successful and if he is awarded damages will Wilson’s Hospital School pursue their High Court costs order against him?

Will the Courts Service pursue the fines outstanding?

Is there any irony in going to the High Court to vindicate your good name and reputation when you have spent such an amount of time to date criticising and excoriating the same High Court and its judges over decisions with which you disapproved?

Is it acceptable to pick and choose?

Or does the law only apply when you want it to?

Just wondering.
