Law awards versus Google reviews and new clients

Every year I see a spate of announcements from colleague and law firms who communicated the good news that they have been nominated for, or won, some award or other.

There is an award dinner, and the attendees dress up nice and get their photographs taken and take selfies. Then they announce the good news to the world at large on social media sites like LinkedIn or elsewhere.

I have never been involved in any of these awards ceremonies.

Nor will I.

The awards I want to win are reviews on my Google business profile from existing clients and new clients.

Don’t get me wrong, it is probably possible to do both-that is, win an award and get great Google reviews and new clients.

But in a time pressed world where you are forced to make choices every day, my choice is clear.
