I am reading another John Steinbeck novel at the moment called “The Wayward Bus”.
I don’t think this is a well-known book but I have recently reread Steinbeck’s master works “East of Eden” and “The Grapes of Wrath” and am running out of Steinbeck books to read.
Only when I have read everything he has written will I go back and reread “Cannery Row”, “East of Eden” and “The Grapes of Wrath” for the third time.
I think he was a genius of a writer and it is amazing that I drove to work this morning with tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks when listening to the audiobook, “The Wayward Bus”.
It’s incredible, when you think about it, that a book written back in the 1947 can continue to give such joy decades later to a man in a different time and place.
Steinbeck’s descriptions of people, and their motivation, go a long way to explaining his genius. But not entirely.
There’s more.
