It was remarkable to hear Enoch Burke’s mother rail against “our first gay or sodomite Taoiseach” and our “socialist President” yesterday at Wilson’s Hospital School.
It is hard to believe it is 2024.
I can remember the decriminalisation of homosexuality when I was a young man, in June 1993.
Little did I believe I would be watching a woman stand outside a school in Westmeath, with her son nodding agreement beside her, speaking about a “sodomite Taoiseach” 31 years later.
We all get to change the culture, and we all have a role to play.
