No power-how we adapted

Storm Darragh caused our power to be out for most of yesterday, along with hundreds of thousands of other people in Ireland.

It is amazing the degree to which you become dependent on power coming into the house and how much you miss it when it is gone.

We had no lights, water, toilets, tv, shower, internet, radio and limited heat (an open fire).

It forced me, however, to do some jobs around the house that did not require power like putting up a shelf in the garage and putting a new bolt on the door, sawing down a tree that was bending over dangerously, and sawing some more firewood.

And I went for a spin on my Vespa, went for a run, picked up some screws/nails in Woodies.

And we played Scrabble last night, whilst downing a most agreeable red wine, something we definitely would not have done if we had television and internet.

So, for one day, I would recommend no power and see how you adapt and what you can do and achieve.
